How To Face CA Exams?
From a ‘pin’ to an ‘airplane’ every single invention was possible due to emergence of an idea/target and continuous toil to achieve that target. If any person achieves anything, then the whole credit of that achievement goes to a clear goal, successful planning and unfailing hard work. Without these three essential elements one cannot think of climbing the ladder of success. This implies that the foremost important thing is one must have a specific target/goal. Without goals you lack focus and direction. Goal setting not only allows you to take control of your life’s direction; it also provides you a benchmark for determining whether you are actually succeeding. To accomplish your goals, however, you need to know how to set them. You can’t simply say, “I want” and expect it to happen. Goal setting is a process that starts with careful consideration of what you want to achieve, and ends with a lot of hard work to actually do it. By setting goals you give yourself mental boundaries. When you have a certain end point in mind you automatically stay away from certain distractions and stay focused towards the goal. This process happens automatically. To get a better idea, imagine this. You have your exam at 2:00 PM. You leave home at 1:30 PM as you know it’s a 20 minute walk to get to the Examination Centre. So you make it a goal to reach the Examination Centre in 15 minutes by jogging so that you can have reach before exam start. Would you get distracted by “anything” along the way? Would you stop for a break or a snack? Would you stop by your friend’s house who also have exam, to take him along with you before going to the Examination Centre? I bet you answered no for each question and at the end of the day this is what a goal gives you. FOCUS. No matter who you meet along the way or what you see. Your goal allows you to stay locked in. You subconsciously keep away from distractions and your focus remains only on the goal. And by the way if you didn’t know yet this is how you become successful, you set a goal, you lock it in and then give it your 100%. Then comes planning…!! Planning is a roadmap to success. Without proper planning one can work hard but not effectively and efficiently. We must keep this thing in mind that we cannot achieve anything without having a comprehensive plan. Every successful person on this land knows what he is doing & what exactly should be done. Because whenever you plan, you plan to succeed. Thus, it is not a surprise that planning will eventually lead you to have better success and achieve a better position. Any of your goals can have more chances of success with proper planning. So the next thing after setting target is proper planning. So the chain flows in following manner: Goal → Planning → Hard work As our Board of Studies also says that ‘If you fail to plan then you are planning to fail.’ Another important thing is that only setting target and chalking out a proper plan will not lead you to success until or unless you put in your sleepless nights and do hard work to achieve the same. Every accomplishment demands hard work. There is no replacement of hard work for success. No matter how talented you are, you have to work hard to excel in life. We need to work hard for success because success demands dedication. No matter which profession you choose which career you aim at, you’ve to work hard to perform the best and make it to the top. We need to hard work for success because success does not come on their own. If you want to own them, you have to work hard to get them. You have to work hard until you prove your excellence. You need to hard work for success because there are also many people out there who deserve to be in your place. You have to work hard to earn your place and reward. Let’s take an example of an athlete. Say an athlete wins any race today. Then we can say that he must have done back breaking practice and made effective plans in the past to achieve the same.
How to set goals/target? And how to do planning for it?
Now suppose the same athlete is asked to compete in any ‘extempore race competition’. Would he be able to win the race without practice? The answer is no!! He cannot because he requires sufficient time to practice. So the first thing we need to set a target is sufficient time for planning and practice. Now comes the question ‘What is sufficient time?’ If I describe in single line then sufficient time is – ‘The time in which it is possible to achieve the any particular target.’ And as target of different persons vary from each other. Similarly, their required sufficient time also varies from person to person. Accordingly, the strength of any person and the target set by him also affects the sufficient time. If the same athlete practices regularly without thinking of any competition, then any extempore competition would not be a big deal for him. But if he waits for the announcement of the competition date first and then starts preparing for the race, in that case, he will require comparatively more time. Hence, in both the cases sufficient time would be different. Lets come to our case, How do we students face this situation? I guess most of the students will relate to this that we always have an urge to study but we can’t. We know that our respective attempt is approaching, but we can’t figure out any proper study schedule. We dream of hitting the bull’s eye but can’t devote ourselves to study. Ultimately, we feel irritated, frustrated & distracted from our path. We leisurely wait for the right time to study and by doing this we lose our precious time without realizing that every single second counts. The reason behind this is we know when is our attempt due but we don’t know how to crack it, how much it will take to complete syllabus, how much practice is required etc. Hence, here is a Sollution for proper study- Primarily, we must have a complete knowledge of entire syllabus that what subjects we have to study. And for this make a list of each and every chapter of all the subjects you have to appear for. Then genuinely allocate number of days or time required to complete each chapter. One must allocate maximum time and not minimum to avoid any contingency. If more than one chapter can be completed in a single day, then make your study schedule accordingly. Don’t forget you are your own boss. Allocate the time according to your strengths and weaknesses and not by getting influenced from anyone. You are best aware of your capabilities. So do this task applying your brains only. Nextly, sum up the days allocated and you will get your required/sufficient time. Now calculate actual time by counting number of days you have in your hands starting from today till the date of examinations. Then deduct 20-30 days for revision from the actual days counted. At last compare the actual time with sufficient time required. I am sure maximum students will find their sufficient time required to be less than actual time calculated. And when you’ll face this situation then you’ll realize the importance of every single precious minute you have. Those students who spend their time leisurely will start their studies as soon as possible and those who will be moving at a slow pace will definitely speed up. It is the time you should be focusing on ‘Where there is a will, there is a way’. You will realize that the time to sit and think has gone, now this is the time to start working for getting a beautiful credential ‘Chartered Accountant’ in your bag. It will be the time to burn midnight oil, to work hard for your dream destination. Whether it would be a day or an hour or a minute, every single minute would be worth studying for. In this way when your target will be clear and precise and you would be aware of your time to practice then definitely you will put best of your efforts and that day no power in this world would stop you to be successful…! So friends!!! Arise! Awake! and stop not until the goal is reached. Best Wishes With best regards: Article Author – L.K. Bikka lucky.bikka@gmail.com Recommended Articles
